As Head,
Indigenous Services Group, Michael Downs leads CC&L Private Capital’s
dedicated efforts to serve First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and
organizations across Canada. Drawing on extensive experience working with
Indigenous communities, Michael helped establish the Indigenous Services
Practice, to bring together our investment expertise and resources in support
of the distinct priorities and long-term objectives of Indigenous communities.
Michael has over 25 years of
experience in investment management, tax and estate planning for private
clients. He has also worked extensively with Indigenous communities,
foundations and charities, providing advice on investment management,
governance and funding policy. His experience as both a senior specialist and a
volunteer on numerous boards and committees allows clients to benefit from best
practices developed across some of Canada’s most respected organizations. He
has also presented at educational and industry events across the country.
Michael holds the CFA® and CIM®
designations, along with several courses in trust, estate and wealth
management.
