Forging a new career path

Benjamin Findlay, Regina-based Wealth Advisor, Associate Advising Representative, was in private equity for over five years prior to joining CC&L Private Capital. Ben recalls, “I was engaging with financial advisors across Saskatchewan when I found myself interested in the opportunity to work more closely with clients.” 

“I value the lifelong relationships I have with my clients and their families. Team support, training and mentorship

Given the vast amount there is to learn for a wealth advisor who is new to the firm, our formal induction process is comprehensive and robust. And the ongoing training we offer — from business development coaching and support to weekly investment updates by our various affiliate teams — ensures wealth advisors remain up-to-date on our full suite of investment solutions. This has been something Ben has found invaluable. 

“The opportunity to get insights directly from our in-house affiliates’ portfolio managers and asset-mix team, and to be able to regularly raise questions my clients are asking me, enables me to offer them a one-of-a-kind level of service. And this team approach extends to all aspects. 

“Upon joining CC&L, one of the senior partners in the Regina office really made an effort to take me under his wing. He showed me how he managed his clients; he was right beside me in my first few meetings; and he continues to be a support to me today, even in his retirement. Many tenured wealth advisors across our regional offices have also been a great support, freely sharing their experiences. And I have learnt much from other wealth advisors in various stages of their career, all from different jurisdictions, and all with very different client bases and management styles. I’ve been able to identify those strategies that were effective for them and to integrate them into my practice, in my own way.
