Mike joined CC&L Private Capital in 2003 and has worked in the investment management industry for over 20 years. His prior work experience includes Mackenzie Financial Corporation, CIBC Securities Inc. and Procter & Gamble Inc. Mike understands
the importance to clients of tailored solutions that meet their unique situations, and his knowledge spans a wide range of asset classes, from traditional to alternative, including real estate, infrastructure, private loans, private equity and hedge
strategies. Mike’s business passions include helping clients with alternative investing, strategic philanthropy, and sourcing expansion and succession capital for their businesses.
Mike is also very active in charitable pursuits. He sits on the Board and Finance Committee of the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation and has been involved with St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation for over twelve years, where he is currently an active
contributor on the President’s Council. . Mike also on the Major Individual Giving Cabinet of The United Way of the Greater Toronto Area, and is a founding member of the SickKids Professional Advisors Council in support of SickKids Foundation.
He is enrolled in the Master Financial Advisor – Philanthropy program and hopes to earn the designation in 2019. This background helps Mike to assist his clients in maximizing the impact that their donation dollars can have. Along with his family,
Mike has established The Flux Foundation with a goal of driving positive change in our shared community. The Flux Foundation has a social purpose of leaving much good behind, in particular in the areas of poverty alleviation and health care. The Flux
Family has also provided key funding to build and establish The McElwain Educational Institute in Sri Lanka in support of the 2004 tsunami relief efforts, and furthering education in the area.
Mike is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and registered Portfolio Manager. His other designations and degrees include Certified Financial Planner (CFP); Chartered Investment Manager (CIM); B.Comm. Honors, Queen's University (1995); MBA,
Edinburgh Business School (2008).
